KRFC NEWS 15th MARCH

Written by Willie Whitesmith. Posted in Weekly Newsletter

New news – News of the colts cup draw, tickets for Saracens v Harlequins, a car for sale, a snack on Saturday and the new bins at the Cow Patch

  • We went down to Lichfield last weekend but secured a valuable bonus point to move within two points of Whitchurch. However Ludlow had their predictable big win over Bedworth and are now five points ahead of us. This week we have a week off and our remaining games are Burton (a), Dunlop (h), Whitchurch (a) and Old Halesonians (a) and you can check out the other fixtures of the teams in the relegation zone on the web site. It is my guess we need at least 2, probably 3 big wins from this lot, including a win at Whitchurch.

  • The report on the Lichfield game is on the web site but there are no piccies this week.

  • The second XV travelled to Old Leamingtonians (my son in law included!) and had a very good 19-5 win. The thirds had another undefeated weekend by drawing 19 all with Old Laurentians.

  • The colts also won, 26-7 at home to Barkers Butts in the Warwickshire Colts Cup. They now play Old Coventrians in the semi final at home on Sunday 1st April.

  • The second XV are at home this week against Newbold, 3pm kick off, whilst the threes are in the pool. The colts also play Newbold at home, 3pm. Check these kick off times as they may vary due to the Internationals being played.

  • There will be baked potatoes available for Super Saturday 17th March and if you want one can I suggest you tell Paul. The Six Nations rugby that will be on is: 12.30pm Italy v Scotland, 2.45pm Wales v France, 5.00 pm England v Ireland. We plan to have the games on the big screens in both the bar & function room.

  • Before this on the 16th March there will be another Quiz Night and if you wish to enter a team then you are asked to submit it to Bruce Doe @ This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or put the name and team captain on the list on the wall.

  • On the 23rd March there is a SPORTING DINNER with former Coventry FC cup winning goalkeeper, Steve Ogrizovic being the main speaker. Tickets are available from behind the bar or from Bruce Doe.

  • CATALIN GRAUR, our Romanian prop, sorry second row, is still available for work and if you have anything for him to do, gardening, labouring etc, he is ever so willing. His good lady Ana Marie is also in the market for cleaning, ironing and nanny work. You can contact them both through Peter Blakeman, many people have!

  • PAG Jones has arranged another Barbarians game and this is against Leamington on Easter Saturday, 7th April at 1pm. The game is at Leamington.

  • The WARWICKSHIRE COLTS SEVENS are to be held at Newbold on Sunday 29th April.

  • The Autumn Internationals (2.30 kick offs) are

    • 17th Nov, v Australia
    • 24th Nov, v South Africa
    • 1st Dec, v New Zealand

but there are no details on prices or dates yet so watch this space.

  • We have been given four tickets for the Saracens v Harlequins game at Wembley (not Twickenham as previously reported) on 31st March. These are from our Sponsor Baker Jayne and these are being auctioned. If you want to submit a bid then please do so to Peter Blakeman by 24th March.

  • There are new bins at the Cow Patch specifically for Plastic recycling and these have been provided by Plastic Omnium, courtesy of Loz Sibley.
