About Seniors
Kenilworth RFC is a traditional town rugby club that currently plays rugby in RFU Midlands 2 West (South). The club regularly fields 1st, Cavaliers/ 2nd, 3rd, Colts and Pirates (Vets) sides and is renowned for playing attractive, flowing rugby that is enjoyed by people from across Warwickshire.
A significant number of our senior players are ‘home grown’ having come through our highly successful mini, junior and colts sections. Many have gone on to be selected for county rugby and beyond demonstrating the respected talent pool that Kenilworth RFC produces.
The club has experienced coaches to improve player skill levels and game awareness, as well as using specialist coaches to take specific sessions. Recently this has included ex-Leicester and England Prop Darren Garforth (scrummaging), and the Portuguese national coaching team (game play).
Kenilworth RFC operates an open door policy to new players wishing to get involved, whether it be to push yourself to be the best player you can be or to earn yourself a well deserved pint after the game. Players of all levels are encouraged to come down and see what ‘K’s’ can offer.
Training is held on a Tues & Thurs night @ 7pm and all are welcome. These nights are generally for 'serious' players at first XV, 2nd XV and colt level although this does not preculde other keen players from the 3rd XV. Training is either on the main pitch or at the Rocky Lane site. There is touch training on a Wed night on the main pitch and this is open to all and a good mix of players turn up for this.
In conjunction with PowerFullyFit the club has now opened a small gymnasium within the main site complex and membership of this is available to all.
Any prospective new player should simply turn up for training and make themselves known to Head Coach Rich Gibson, Backs Coach Glyn Owen or 1st XV Manager Jos Selby.
