“Quinque Puncta Gloriosa”
*The first ever Barbarians game was a memorial game for the outstanding Alex Wallis against Princethorpe Old Boys, where Alex went to school. The starting line up was made up largely of Alex’s contemporaries in the Colts but everyone who wanted to play was welcome. The event was well supported given the affection for Alex which everyone who knew him held.
Kenilworth Barbarians is an U23’s invitational side aimed at welcoming back into the fold younger players who have stopped playing for the club after Colts or who are away at University, as well as providing a showcase for aspiring younger players to bridge the gap between Colts and Senior Rugby.
The side’s motto will be “Quinque Puncta Gloriosa” (5 minutes of glory) reflecting the fact that we would like as many players as possible to get involved (and their mates and mates of mates) to enjoy what we hope will become very popular and well supported occasions. The side is aiming to play 3 or 4 games per season around university holiday times:
The Barbarians have their own unique shirt. By popular demand it is pink and black hoops (reflecting the Barbarians’ tradition) with a collar edged in traditional Kenilworth colours.
Anyone aged 18 to 23 who would like to play is welcome to contact Pag Jones at:
Or via the Kenilworth Barbarians Facebook page:
The side is sponsored by Smith Jones solicitors:
