Kenilworth Rugby Club

Kenilworth RFC News for 6th Dec 19

  • In their last outing two weeks ago the Men 1st XV had a disappointing loss (8-13) at Newbold, a wee bit controversial in the end but it meant we dropped to 3rd spot in the league with fast improving Lichfield moving into 2nd spot behind Dudley K. Our Men’s 2nd XV have bounced back well after their disappointing loss at Spartans and have had wins over Berkswell & Balsall and, last week a very big 84-10 win over Barkers Butts. The Colts have not played for a few weeks.
  • Also out last week were our Men’s 3rd XV (Occasionals) and they had a fixture against a strong Old Coventrians 2nd XV, just losing out 31-41. The try scorers that day were a real blast from the past with tries for Jez Noon, Ian Bowden, Ian Phillips & Charlie Buckle. New boy Sam Powell also scored and earned the Man of the Match accolade.
  • Our Women have also come back well from their home defeat to Birmingham Moseley and travelled the long way to Wymondham Wasps and won 38-0. Top of the league Buckingham Swans lost that day to Birmingham Moseley and we are now just one point behind them in 2nd spot in the league.
  • The results of these games, and reports where submitted, are on the web site. Read the 3rd XV report, it is very good!
  • This weekend (7th Dec) the Men’s 1st XV are back at home and face Old Halesonians who are currently lying in 10th spot in the league with six losses, four wins and a draw. If you cannot make it then the game (hopefully) will be tweeted. The programme for the game will be posted on the web site from Friday night. Prior to the game we are holding our 'free' Volunteers Lunch and this kicks off at 12.30pm.
  • Our Men’s 2nd XV are having a well deserved weekend off and on Friday night our Colts are at home and take on Earlsdon under our lights with a 7.30pm kick off.
  • On Sunday our Women were down to face Bletchley but this game has been re-arranged for January and they now, as a Development squad, take on Lutterworth.
  • The events coming up at the club can be viewed HERE.
  • We now have our new Members Cards and these will be distributed to you shortly.

  • On Wednesday 18th Dec we are holding our annual Santa Sevens and this will kick off at 6pm on the main pitch, weather permitting. If you are not yet in a team and want to be then contact PAG Jones on
  • You will all be delighted to hear that there has been much progress on the completion of the purchase on our new ground so much so that we have pencilled in the 19th Dec for a presentation of our new ground proposals and initial discussions with the membership. This will commence at 7.30 and will be chaired by Bruce Doe.
  • Please remember if you wish to purchase any Kenilworth clothing as Christmas pressies then you can access our club shop HERE
  • We have now agreed with all parties that our league game with Sutton Coldfield on the 21st Dec, our Christmas Lunch, will kick off at 3pm.
