Weekly newsletter

  • Last week the men had a decent bonus point win away at Silhillians but it got a wee bit squeaky in the last quarter with the score at 17-14 and Silhillians pressing. We then gained secured the bonus point with an Ed Hannam try in the last play of the game. A full report on the game, plus the piccies, is on our new web site. We remain top of the league with Kidderminster in full pursuit also with three bonus point wins. Back at Glasshouse Lane, an impressive 2nd XV defeated Sutton Coldfield 3s (Silhillians called off late) by 71-5 with the star of this show being Neil Sutherland, son of Steve, with five tries. The Colts game with Barkers' was called off late in the week and our Ladies game at Silhillians proved a non-event as the opposition only turned up with five players. We then mixed and matched with our squad so at least the Ladies had a run out, including fly half Sarah Munday who has been out for a very long while.
  • This week the 1st XV return home to face Barkers' Butts who have won two of their three games to date, defeating Evesham 30-3 at home last week and Southam, away, in the opening game. Their loss came against Earlsdon, away. The 2nd XV are away at Barkers' and our Colts are at home to Earlsdon. On Sunday our Ladies travel to Lichfield Ladies IIs for their third league game. Lichfield have won both their opening games and lie second in the league with our girls in 7th out of eight.
  • Next weekend our 1st XV are home in the RFU Intermediate Cup against Wolverhampton (KO 3pm). The Ladies are away to the current league leaders, Buckingham Swans. Our Colts are away at Broadstreet and our 2nd XV currently have no game but may go into the pool.
  • Our new web site is now up and running and constructive comment would be welcome. It can still be found at There are a number of our M&J teams that do not have a picture on their landing page. Can I ask the relevant coaches/parents to take one (maximum of two rows) and send to me at
