In front of a decent crowd boosted by the former players Pre-Match lunch the 1st team defeated a much-improved Sutton Coldfield side 43-17. Tries came from Gareth Renowden x 2, Mikkel Andresen, Sam Peppitt, Bobby Thompson, Todd Freemantle and Harry O'Brien who added 4 conversions.
This means that with 2 matches left we are confirmed as 2nd in the league and are just awaiting final confirmation of the league structure for next season. There are strong rumours that we will be promoted into a league containing old rivals Broadstreet, Nuneaton, Burton and Bromsgrove amongst others. As soon as we have official confirmation we will publish the new league structure.
The 2XV travelled to Nuneaton Old Edwardians for a friendly on the back of the wonderful news that they had won their 2XV league. They defeated Old Eds 69-0 and can look back proudly on a league and cup double this season.
Next Saturday the 1XV have a rearranged home league fixture against Hereford and this is the last home fixture of the season - we hope to see a large crowd down to cheer on the lads as they approach the end of a tough but successful season. The 2XV are away to Spartans which is always a tricky place to play.
