What a weekend for the Opoku-Fordjour family, David and his brother Asher both played for Kenilworth Juniors in the same team, through to Colts.
On Saturday David made his first start for Coventry RFC in their Premiership Rugby Cup match against Northampton Saints. A Day later Asher was on the Bench with the opportunity of winning his first full England Cap against Japan cheered on by David, his brothers and mother.
Asher came on to enthusiastic applause (and not just from John Brain and Peter Cox, two of his coaches while at the club) on 54 minutes and had a dream start winning a scrum penalty early on. John and Peter were delighted to share Asher’s big day and getting the opportunity to join Asher in the players lounge after the game was the icing on the cake.
Asher has already starred for the u20 England side who successfully lifted the World cup, defeating France in the final on the back of a dominant pack and pundits (and his old coaches) forecast a bright future for Asher who is one of those rare players who can play either side of the scrum.
