In 2021, we lost a true KRFC Clubman and friend in Nick Moore. Here, Honorary Patron and ex-Club President Willie Whitesmith provides some words about our sorely missed friend. Nick also wrote a blog about his journey and experiences throughout his cancer ordeal.
"In June 2021 I lost one of my best mates, Nick Moore, after a heroic 7.5yr fight with prostate cancer. Nick was married to Pam and had two daughters, Sarah & Emily, and four grandkids. Our thoughts are with them.
I first met Nick in 1982 – I was out in my front garden with my two young girls and Nick passed me with his two (of a similar age). He had recently moved to Kenilworth and was so glad to meet someone who had also recently moved into the area and we struck up an immediate friendship – it was not difficult with a guy so nice as Nick. Our association and friendship continued through Round Table, then Kenilworth Rugby Club and, with the Ratcliffes, we enjoyed many short breaks away and meals together.
Nick, being Nick, has written a blog/diary (Nick’s Prostate Story – Make Plans and do it…..) of the events that unfolded in his life from October 2013 and, with the family’s blessing, it is enclosed. I know that Nick would want as many people to see it in the hope that it can help others in some way.
RIP Nick."
