Proposed Relocation of Kenilworth Rugby Football Club to Land East of Warwick Road, CV8 1FE.

Kenilworth Rugby Football Club (KRFC) will soon be submitting a full planning application for the relocation of KRFC from the current premises on Glasshouse Lane, Kenilworth, CV8 2AJ, to the new premises at Land to the East of Warwick Road, to the south of Kenilworth Cricket Club, CV8 1FE adjacent to the new Pavilions residential development.

As you may be aware, the principle of the proposed development has already been established through the Local Plan policy. The current KRFC and the proposed relocation site are both allocated for redevelopment through the following policies of the Warwick District Local Plan 2011-2029 (September 2017):

  • DS15 Comprehensive Development of Strategic Sites
  • DS23 Land for outdoor sports and recreation in Kenilworth
  • The sites are also allocated within the Kenilworth Neighbourhood Plan (adopted by Warwick District Council on 16 November 2018):
    • Policy KP6B: Land East of Warwick Road
    • Policy KP4: Land East of Kenilworth
  • The principle of the relocation of KRFC to the proposed premises is therefore supported by the Local Plan. The proposed development will provide new sports facilities for both the senior KRFC teams in addition to the mini and junior sections of the Club and will be a valuable asset for the local community.

In normal circumstances, we would undertake a community consultation event, however, given the current situation with COVID-19 this was not considered safe or appropriate. However, we have taken steps to ensure that local residents, town, parish and ward councillors are aware of the proposals.

We would welcome comments on the proposals which are illustrated on the drawings published below.
