On Saturday the 23rd July we welcomed the Wasps community team to Kenilworth RFC.
We were incredibly proud to host an event which helps demonstrate our continued commitment to the growth of girls and women’s rugby in Warwickshire.
Across the day over 40 women and girls engaged in activities such as handling, tackling and decision-making drills.
There was a great breadth of ability on display, from complete beginners to county level players, truly signifying that rugby, and Kenilworth RFC welcome anyone eager to play our favourite game.
Here’s what women’s head coach Richard Bennett had to say about the success of the day:  “The Wasps Community Day was a great success and we saw girls and women having fun, learning and applying skills. It was fantastic to see players of all abilities developing and thriving in an inclusive environment with some of the best coaches in the country. It show cased just what rugby is about here at Kenilworth RFC.”
His sentiments were echoed by Lead Coach Sarah Mitchelson:  “Such a fantastic day At Kenilworth rugby club yesterday. Lots of talent on show and great to see some new players picking a ball up. Thanks to the Wasps Womens and community team for supporting the event and a huge thanks to Kenilworth for hosting it. I look forward to more coaching here in the near future”.
